Neil Lostman
I'm almost finished reading Neil Postman's Amusing Ourselves to Death and I have really struggled to stay focused while reading this book. Postman often rants on and on about things I have no knowledge of and I end up getting lost and having to re-read some paragraphs to make sure I understood his points. Often because my mind would drift away from the book to other things. I was really close to giving up on the book and moving on to the next one, but if I quit every time something becomes difficult in life I won't get any where. This just made me want to read the book even more. This means that I did not understand a few things and gained knowledge from it and knowledge is what books are . There were a lot of words I did not know in the book but searched them up in the dictionary and ended up learning some new vocabulary. This isn't one of those books where you can just skim through and understand completely you must dedicate time to read this book and to really grasp Postman's concepts and ideas. How many of your struggled with the book and what did you struggle with?

Hey Demetrise, nice blog title by the way. *Amusing Ourselves to Death* is is definitely a hard book to read, I think everyone taking this class can agree. At one point I got so frustrated with reading this book that I started calling it *Boring Ourselves to Death*.The high vocabulary in this book had me struggling as well, so I did have to look up some words. Overall, I eventually got hooked to the book, especially when Postman referred to people I've learned about in sophomore year such as Aristotle and Thomas Paine.
