Academic Summaries

In our academic summaries for Amusing Ourselves to Death, is it okay if we use quotes from the book as evidence?

  1. Writing academic summary is not the same as writing analysis. In analysis, we use the text to support our position, but in academic summary, especially when you have been asked for only 3 SENTENCES, you are demonstrating that you can identify the main idea of a chapter.

A summary should be economical and precise; it should be neutral in its position (you are merely reflecting Postman's ideas); Postman's ideas should be expressed in the writer's own words. Please don't rely on quotations.
