When reading Amusing Ourselves To Death one quote that stuck with me through the whole book was "Our languages our are media. Our media are our metaphors. Our metaphors create the content of our culture"(15). Postman showed just how much our culture surrounds around the media. I find it unbelievable that he could possibly know so much about what was going to happen now. He showed just how much technology controls are life. Everything is surrounded by the internet no matter what you do. If you have a question google it, if you need to buy clothes order it online, and if you need food order it so it can be delivered to your house. Those are just some examples of how you can do anything with the internet.
I feel our culture is all about technology and not saying it's a bad thing, but when you become addicted there is something wrong. A lot of people love to post pictures on Instagram or look at what other people are doing on snap chat. But while you are paying so much attention to your social media. The whole world is right in front of you, and your wondering whether I should post this picture. My mom told me something funny she said I hope you're taking you own advice. I am trying my best at not focusing all my attention on my phone or the internet. What do you think is our culture to involved with the internet? Do you focus way to much time on superficial things like the internet, or social media?
