Animal Rights
Recently I was reading an article that was on Room for Debates called Enforcing the Legal Rights of animals and tells the story of a man that violently kicked a stray cat and it was caught on video. Many people were outraged and couldn't believe that the man did such a thing to an innocent cat. Animal abuse is considered a felony in all 50 states which I believe is a good thing since I do not look down upon animals. (well I do figuratively speaking) Until the early 1900s, animals were considered useless and it did not matter if they were killed, beaten, or stolen. Society has come a long way from that because now animals have the privilege of being protected by the law. While they are still considered property in some people's eyes in others they have become members of the family. Animals are becoming more important to our society and it shows with the increase in the products that are sold for animals, and the services that are available now. Also, some people even go as far as to celebrate their dog’s date of birth.

It's sad that somebody will do something like that to an innocent animal. Animals are like us, living and breathing. It's wrong to make a living creature suffer in any way, shape or form. There is no valid reason to hurt an animal. I agree that society has come a long way. Though there are still a lot of people out there who think that animal cruelty is a small deal.
ReplyDeleteI agree that domesticated animals are gaining popularity in the United States. Unfortunately, in places like in Asia or Africa, there are much less domesticated animals. The animals there are wild, in their natural habitat. In their natural habitat, each animal is fighting for its life. Cats eat mice...what about their lives? I agree, deliberately hurting an animal for no apparent purpose is mean. Animals have "lives" but ones not on the same level as humans. Does this mean they should be treated the same as humans?
ReplyDeleteI agree that abusing animals and miss treating them is horrible. I find it interesting that I just came across this topic because not to long ago i saw someone miss treating a dog and it made me sad and angry at the same time. The craziest part was that it was a person who goes to our school. Anyways this kid was grabbing a dog by its neck and blowing weed smoke into its face. Seeing that made me upset and feel bad for the dog. Even though animal rights have changed not everyone abides by them.
ReplyDeleteI agree that animal abuse is a rude act. In certain cites there are lose dogs and cats that roam around looking for food. Even though people have them as pets, sometimes they abuse them anyway. I am extremely afraid of dogs. It does make me upset when people try abuse any type of animal.
ReplyDeleteAnimal abuse is wrong and I agree that it shouldn't be tolerated. Personally, I love animals and can't stand to think that some people out there still treat animals with such violence. Animals are living, breathing beings, and just like us, they feel emotions from pain and sadness, to happiness and excitement. They should be treated with respect and love.
