Two Heads are Always Better Than One
From doing my birthday bookwork on my book, Where Good Ideas Come From, Steven Johnson discusses the process of good ideas being formulated using seven characteristics that pave the way for innovative thinking. One of those characteristics is called Liquid Networking which provides businesses and groups with a support team that builds upon constructed ideas and makes them better in order to be successful in their endeavors. I find this fascinating because when we have good ideas, we tend to keep it to ourselves, but with a team in on your idea, it will only go forward from there. Like I always say, two heads are better than one, with others striving to achieve the same level of success, one good idea can turn into something better and more well-constructed which would be beneficial to everyone in on the idea. Rather than single elements, ideas are best when they are supported by other ideas, networks are complex. Johnson even compares liquid networks to the complexity of the human mind. "The 100 billion neurons in your brain form another kind of liquid network,"(p 52). I find it crazy to think about how liquid networks and even our own brains are so intricate. It's crazy to think that this is also high school. All of us students are our own support group because we are all chasing the same goal to be successful, completing all our schoolwork, us friends are always backing each other's ideas up. Like the human mind and it's complexities, we all work together to complete the mission, survive high school. We are each others moral support and guidance. Individuality is an important thing, but if one good idea were to be developed by a group of good thinkers, imagine how good that idea will be in the end. What do you think, do you tend to work better alone? Most of the time I do work better, but when working with others, it is also very easy because ideas are going back and forth. Do you like being able to have class projects in school? School is rapidly approaching, as I finish my work, I wish to encourage my friends and push them to do what they never thought possible. I encourage all of you to finish strong and do your best work, if you can't do it alone, I am always here for moral support.
