The other day I read an article about whether or not the death penalty should be abolished. The article stated how there have been innocent people executed ,due to new evidence that has resurfaced years later that proved their innocence.I think it’s wrong to give someone the death penalty because it really doesn't do anything to the person, but make their life short when they can just suffer in prison.Which is the best solution since it messes them up mentally and causes them to get a daily reminder of what they did.I feel that if we execute a person for killing someone, then we are sending a message that it is okay to kill someone because they deserved it.And who are we to be so judgmental, where we can choose someone’s right to live or die?
I believe the death penalty shouldn't exist, because there is rarely ever a case where someone is proved guilty with a one hundred percent chance that it was them. The death penalty might get justice for a couple guilty murderers, but at the cost of how many innocents? The death penalty would just make a convicted innocent person have no chance at getting their freedom back. Even if they spend years in jail, they would still be alive, and if the right evidence was found, they would be freed. If a guilty murderer was sent to years in jail, he would have no hope of getting out, because he is actually guilty. It would be best if the death penalty was abolished, because it gives hope to the innocent, and gives the rightful punishment to the guilty.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what you said is true.Yet it's sad that innocent people are spending their life in jail for a crime they did not commit. It takes away their sanity, and their meaning to live.Just last year a innocent man was released from prison after,he had already served 27 years. And for his pain and suffering the city gave him 16.65 million dollars he accepted the money, but he simply replied that the money can never give him back his life.To prevent future mistakes like these I feel that their should be a lie detector test taken.
DeleteI also do not believe that there should be a death penalty because everyone has the ability to change even if they are that crazy to kill someone. Being able to be punished, feel guilt, and having the time to think about how what they did was wrong will not only change that person, but the people around them as well. It will spread the guilt and regret that the person has experienced and influence other people's thoughts and choices.
ReplyDeleteRight!Like we are humans,no one is perfect. We all make mistakes, and learn from them.People can really be hypocrites at times and not notice at all.I know if they were put in the same situation as that person they would not want to be executed, they would simply just ask for the time in prison.
DeleteI feel that killing people is giving them the easy way out. Yes we are humans we do make mistakes and that is why j feel that people who do death penalty worthy crimes should just have to suffer in jail. Sometimes the death penalty has to be used because there isn't enough space to hold that many people in jail but maybe they should just make more minor cases not have to sever so much time in jail. I get why they have the death penalty is to kept room in the jails because are getting overcrowded but at the same time two wrongs don't make make s right and head killing som one does make sure that they won't kill anyone else but I bet we ban find other ways to regulate that.
ReplyDeleteTrue, prisons are becoming crowded but that does not defend their actions for killing someone. It costs a lot of tax dollars to execute a person, than to place them in jail.Which is one of the reasons why the death penalty should be abolished. And maybe prisons would not be so overcrowded if they did not put people in there for minor misdemeanors, since it is not doing any one harm.
DeleteI honestly think the death penally is very unecessary. I rather extreme crimes should be in like the box. Death is never a good punishment on anyone. Killing someone is barbaric and completely unnecessary. Thats just an easy way to finish the issue.
