Large Groups vs. Small Groups

I remember reading about the dynamics of large and small group in Here Comes Everybody by Clay Shirky. It made me think about an incident that went on with a group of my previous friends. I thought about how small groups are easier to handle because there are less opinions and its easier to decide on things to do. When our friend group started to expand, things became more and more harder to get us all together and to agree all on one thing to do. Like what Shirky talked about in the novel.

I personally never realized or though about how the number of people could effect the dynamics of a group until i experienced it for myself. Still I didn't really think about it and try to strategies how things could have went different until i read Shirky's book. Have you ever experience a similar situation to mine, if so how did it play out?
