Advancing technology
Technology has really improved over the years. For example, at airports you do not even have to go to the counter to check in you can just use the little kiosks and your information will be put into the system. It is amazing that you can scan your passport and a computer is able to just check you in. You also let the airline know how many bags you have whether they will be carry on or go with all the luggage, pick your seat, print your boarding pass, and print out the stickers for your bags. This is wonderful because it speeds things up, but at the same time scary because there are less and less employees at the airport. I sometimes feel that we might soon run out of jobs and computers and technology will be running everything. The other thing I noticed is that since employees deal less with people I feel like they are losing their costumer service skills. Have you experienced this at the airports? Do you feel the same way? What do you think?

I feel that you're right technology has improved advancing machines taking away some jobs. What I've notice is that it gives technicians job offers since they keep up the machines' maintenance and fixing them when they become inoperative.Along with engineers receiving offers since they make these machines. It's all about the people who want to work so they do not become unemployed.I think that people should start picking jobs that they know cannot be replaced. For example, doctors and police officers cannot be replaced by advanced technology.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, when I'm at an airline it seems much easier with the machines and faster. However, until something goes wrong. When I was at the airport we checked in, but it didn't give us our stickers for our bags. So when we were looking for help we had to wait while the employ helped someone else since there were only two people there to help. There is a chance that computers could start running everything, since there is starting to be less and less employs in this field.
ReplyDeleteI have also noticed this too. When I went to the airport with my family, the first thing we did was check in by using the kiosk. It did make the process faster, but sometimes it may be difficult for people to use. Other times the machine may malfunction causing it to take longer. I've also realized how we are becoming very reliant on technology and computers. I understand how using technology helps make the process more efficient, but it limits the social interaction between people. Have you ever wondered about all the various ways we can perform multiple tasks without even interacting with one another?
