Environment and innovation
In Where Good Ideas Come From the author talks about what kind of environments are best to promote innovation. Johnson states that the best environment for innovation is an environment where people can share and connect with each others ideas. This type of environment promotes innovation because it allows people to build on others ideas, be more knowledgeable by learning new ideas, and fill holes to unfinished thoughts. In an environment where people are disconnected from each other, ideas are not easily spread making it harder for people to connect thoughts. I think that sharing an idea is very beneficial because it allows people to help make it better or complete the ideas leading to the formation of new innovations. I enjoy getting input from people such as my friends or family on a project or my work because they help improve my work by seeing things that I could not catch. Is it more comfortable for you to get input from other people or do you trust your own judgement on an idea?

I agree with your statement Lani about getting feedback from friends and family but not only in my school work. For example, I enjoy getting feedback about my art from my peers in the art academy. It doesn't only make me a better artist but it helps me see mistakes I didn't catch or see a certain area in my style that I can certainly improve upon. Same thing goes with my marching band. I'm the Assistanr Drum Major and I am always open to what my instructors have to say about my mace routines and conducting. All of their feedback is there just to make me a better Drum Major. I also like it when band members give me feed back about my conducting as well because it helps me become a better leader for them by listening.
ReplyDeleteGetting feedback from others really helps us grow and realize our mistakes. When we work alone or away from people we won't really get the chance to receive a second opinion. After I have finished working on an assignment like an essay I often find myself asking my friends "Can you read this and proofread it?" I personally really like receiving feedback even though it might be negative sometimes it still helps me improve my writing. Even though we may trust our own judgement it is still beneficial for us to receive a different opinion from someone else like a friend, family member, or teacher.
