Opinions

In chapter six of Amusing Ourselves to Death, Postman ask four questions, "What is television? What kinds of conversations does it permit? What are the intellectual tendencies it encourages? What sort of culture does it produce?" For the question what is television this can easily be answered, one could say, television is a type of device that transfers a series of motion pictures and sounds, and display them onto a glass screen;but for the other questions the answers are solely based off of opinion. Some people believe that television can provide educational purposes, while others believe that it is an "idiot box." Both sides can also provide essential evidence to validate their claims as well, so these are not questions with one answer only, these are questions that are to be debated, and can be answered many ways based off of opinions.
