Will You Use Wikipedia?

Around fourth or fifth grade, I was informed to absolutely never use Wikipedia because it is unreliable. The teacher's only reasoning for this was the "edit" button in the corner of every article. From then on, I never used the website for reports. The only time I would use Wikipedia was if I wanted to look up quick information regarding a TV show or a band etc. Even then, there would be a voice in the back of my head telling me This might not even be true. Anyone could have edited this. Little did I know at the time how much of a strong team the Wikipedia community was! Clay Shirky really opened my eyes. I never realized that when someone scandalizes an article, it is fixed almost immediately by someone else in the community.

Clay Shirky talks about Wikipedia quite a bit in Here Comes Everybody. What did you all think after reading about the sole purpose of Wikipedia? Has anyone told you to never use Wikipedia?Considering how successfully it really functions, will you use it more often?
