Kids fighting climate change by suing

With the increase of temperature in the United States due to climate change, groups of children have decided to take action against this by suing the government. For example a group of teenagers believed that the state of Massachusetts had failed to follow the 2008 restriction of greenhouse gases so they created a lawsuit and successfully sued the government.  I support what these kids were trying to do as big companies are releasing dangerous amounts of gas into air and are getting away from any reasonable punishments as they easily pay the fine and continue doing what they do.  What I think the government should do is imply a new law that forces companies that have left a hazardous mess to pay 50% of what their company’s worth to clean it up and have a 100 year punishment that forces them to donate 30% of what their company makes in a year to preserving wild life.  If they do not follow this rule, the company would be forced to shut down and pay 100% of what they have made to preserving land for animals to live in without having other companies destroying the land. Do you guys think this is a harass law or would you support this law if it was proposed?

  1. There are already plenty of laws that restrict companies from releasing hazardous materials. This country does not need any more of these laws. If the government imposed the law that Sergio described, businesses would not grow, people would lose their jobs, and the company would move to a different company.

  2. I'm going to have to disagree with what you're saying. Like Nathan said, there are already plenty of strict laws that companies are forced to follow, and if the laws you described were implemented, the companies would not make any profit. While it would be great for companies to donate money to make the environment better for animals like Harambe and Zoboomafoo, they are not required to, and that's fine too. There are only a handful of companies that do not follow environmental laws, and they are usually swiftly and strictly dealt with.

  3. i am triggered by what you have said sir. The company might as well turn into a zoo. And even that wouldn't be a good idea... Have you seen Harambe? RIP Harambe.
